NEW for this Winter is the Weymouth Land Train History Tour which will run on Wednesday and Thursday, twice a day at 10:00 & 12:00 from the Weymouth Land Train Stop opposite M&S on the Seafront. Tickets must be purchased in advance. £10 per person.

Join us on a journey through the history of Weymouth from the comfort of the Weymouth Land Train. This guided 75-minute tour is both fun, educational, and great way to see this popular seaside resort with your Weymouth Heritage Centre guide.

  • Discover the history of Weymouth’s historic esplanade and harbour.
  • Visit the War memorials of WWI and WWII, view historic buildings and the famous Weymouth Pavilion Theatre.
  • Our journey continues along the historic harbour and iconic lifting bridge before exploring the origins of the Black Death in July 1348 and how Weymouth was vital in defending our shores from the Spanish Armada in 1588.
  • Uncover the importance of trade and maritime history and how the twin towns of Melcombe Regis and Weymouth were granted Royal Charters.

Disability statement

The train can carry one disabled passenger in a wheel chair with a combined weight of 120 kilos, via a tail lift.  All other disabled access is enabled by a simple step. Our policy is for the disabled person to travel free, the carers pay the normal fee with the guard signing their ticket for proof of travel.

Dog owners

Dogs are allowed on the train.
